Canada’s innovation gap, characterized by a lag in technological adoption, research and development (R&D) investments, and the growth of a competitive tech ecosystem, is becoming a pressing issue. The Current State of Tech Innovation in Canada
Canada’s tech landscape, while home to some successful companies such as Shopify, OpenText, and BlackBerry (in its earlier days), has struggled to maintain momentum in tech innovation compared to other countries. In the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2023 rankings, Canada ranks 17th, trailing behind smaller nations with fewer resources.
